Joining the Club

New members are introduced to the Club through an induction program lasting three months. There are usually three such programs each year. Follow this link to view the new member intakes for 2010 - New Member Intakes 2010

Juniors are accepted from 12 years of age provided they have parental approval and are adequately supervised. The Membership Application Form includes a Parental Consent Form which must be completed and signed by a Parent or Guardian if a Junior is applying

Members of other pistol clubs in NSW, interstate or overseas may be accepted into the club without having to complete the induction program. However, all new members must undergo a safety test prior to commencing shooting

Applications for membership are not automatically accepted. Applicants must be of good character and reputation (confirmed by written references), and either hold or be eligible to hold a Firearms Licence. The Police do not usually grant a licence where the applicant has a prior criminal conviction or is the subject of any order relating to violence or firearms.

The Induction Program
Unless accepted as a transferee, new members are granted Provisional membership status while they complete the induction program. Upon satisfactory completion of the induction program, a new member may apply for a Probationary pistol licence from the NSW Firearms Registry.

Once a Probationary pistol licence from FAR is obtained, new members are given Probationary Club membership status until such time as the requirements to gain a full pistol licence from FAR have been fulfilled. Upon receipt of the full pistol licence from FAR, full Club membership is granted.

The induction program covers:

* safe firearm handling, transport and storage
* individual responsibilities and obligations
* club, range and match procedures
* correct shooting technique

A record card is maintained throughout the induction program noting attendance, scores and progress. At the conclusion, applicants undergo a written examination.

Club Pistols
Provisional members may only use club-owned pistols under supervision. The club pistols are held by a licenced Club Armourer and are made available to Provisional members during coaching sessions and rostered matches.
