Rapid Fire Feature Day 3rd April

Six shooters competed in last Saturday RF Feature Day Comp.

Many of the “heavies” were away at the national in BNE, and others were occupied with Easter holiday. We offered 10/8/6 seconds sequence to those worthy of this privilege, and they found the shoots more enjoyable (and less daunting). Of course, their handicaps had to be varied accordingly; this proved to be a difficult exercise first time up. Paul L. changed his initial nomination of 180 to 100, while he should have stuck to his earlier number as indeed he would have scored the perfect 600 with the 180 handicap! Due to the small number, we did not shoot for a prize this time. We also learned that 10 seconds was too slow with shooters tending to precision the shots. So next time, we should perhaps try 8/6/6. Also, shooters’ nomination of handicaps may be closer to the mark.

Any other bright idea to make this challenging event more enjoyable to more shooters? Next RF Feature day is due on 1 May, see you ALL then!!

CMPC 2010 Blackpowder Championships at Blacktown in August

Think about entering the CMPC Blackpowder championships at Blacktown Pistol Club on 7th & 8th August 2010.

It is normally a good event and would be a good first opportunity for those who have not shot in a competition. Blacktown is not far to travel and the 25 Metre match is being shot on the Sunday - not over two days. It would be good if St Ives could muster a large group to attend the match on either one, or both days.

We had 9 shooters today which wasn’t too bad considering the weather. As usual it was a close finish with Rudy on 598 winning by one point from Richard on 597. Good handicapping for these two!

The next Feature day will be June 26. See you then.

Rapid Fire Feature Day 26th June

We had a good turn out today of 11 rapid fire shooters all trying to win the prize money.

Brian won with a 599 but when I arrived home I did a check on Setsukos adding and found 2 errors. One on my score sheet and one on Brian's. She scored both of us 10 points less than the actual. Brian's new score put him 8 points over 600 but he still finished 2 points in front of Yan. When David L estimated his handicap he calculated it out of 500 instead of 600. He finished with 494. Another 100 points on his handicap and he would have had the winnings. Phil Adams was at the club today and came around to D range later in the day to give Brian a bit of coaching. I saw Brian pay him off later with half of the prize money. I thought there were rules forbidding this sort of coaching? The next Feature Day is the 24^th July.

Rapid Fire Feature Day 24th July

We had an excellent attendance at yesterdays shoot.

15 shooters all up with 14 scores as Tim D's FAS decided to break and cease to function so he retired early with a $2 refund. Congratulations to Luke P who calmly shot a 531 breaking into B grade. That is the first time Luke has shot for quite a few months. You now have an incentive to come to future Feature Days!

The total prize money was $28 won by Brian (again). Brian also won the off gun. Good shooting Brian. It takes a certain skill to shoot well and sledge the other shooter at the same time.

It was a long day with the lights needed to finish the last 2 details.

The next RFFD is the 21^st. August (election day). I will be shooting in Newcastle that weekend so any volunteers to run the day? We discovered stacks of red Rapid Fire score sheets in the target room for whoever volunteers.

Metallic Silhouette Open Day 31st July

All members of the SIPC CLub are invited to attend the Metallic Silhouette Open Day at 2.00pm on Saturday 31st July.

The Open Day is being held to re-launch the Metallic Silhouette Match after a long hiatus due to the work on Range B.

Several members, notably our Club Captain Dick F, MS Match Director David L, long-time State and National Team MS shooters Keith R and Kirk M, and others, have put a lot of hard work into completely rebuilding the target frames and backing plates so that we can once again shoot this great match on Range B.

The 30, 40 and 50m frames are now all mounted with big rubber wheels for easy movement and placement, The backing plates are now built into the 30 and 40m frames, while the 50m backing plates can be carried by one person. This means anyone can set up the range on their own for a practice shoot or a match.

Bring along your .22 - ammo will be provided by the club and you can have a go at this match if you haven't tried it before, or acquaint yourself with the new target set up if you have.

2010 Club Championships

2010 Club Championships

It's that time of the year again - the Club Championships are almost upon us!

All members are encouraged to enter. Most matches are graded so members compete against people of a similar level.

The winners of Club Championship trophies and medals will receive their awards at the Blues Night (Presentation Dinner) at the Clubhouse, Saturday November 27 - see the posters around the Club for more details - tickets are on sale now - be there or you'll miss out on "the" Club social event of the year!

The match dates are as follows (for times and ranges, refer to the Range Roster and the entry form lists on the Notice Board)

ISSF matches - Saturday 28^th August 2010 and Saturday 4^th September 2010.

Metallic Silhouette - Saturday 11^th September 2010.

International 1920 - Saturday 11^th September 2010.

Steel Challenge - Sunday 12^th September 2010

Veteran Service - Thursday 16 ^th September 2010.

IPSC - Saturday 18 ^th September 2010.

Service Pistol - Sunday 19^th September 2010. OR it may also be shot on one rostered Saturday morning as determined by the Match Director.

WA1500 - Saturday 25 ^th September 2010 OR it may also be shot on one rostered Tuesday morning as determined by the Match Director.

25 Metre Black Powder Pistol & International Revolver Matches - Choice of Saturday 25 ^th September 2010 OR on Wednesday 29^th September 2010.

25 Yard Service - Saturday 9^th October 2010.

50 Metre Black Powder - Sunday 17^th October 2010 OR on Saturday 30^th October 2010.

Where there is a choice of dates to shoot a match, at least two members must compete on a given day; entry form lists will be placed on the notice board or arrangements will be made by the Match Directors.
